The Official GoDaddy.com Domain Search Dashboard Widget for OSX debuts
While It may take you more time to say the name than to download/ install and enact a search on our new domain search for OSX dashboard there’s no reason you can’t do both simultaneously. You’ll need OSX10.4, or better, as we’re using the dashboard functionality that originated within this version of the operating system.
Click on this link, In Safari you will be asked if you want to install directly. Within other browsers , you may have to download the file, extract it and then double click on
“Go Daddy Domain Search” to install.
You can set the widget to return results in three formats. Note we only show domains that are available with the exception of the main search term. If the item you search for has been taken we’ll let you know. That doesn’t necessarily mean your alternates are not available and I suggest searching for specific domains if you don’t see them in the result.
Onto the choices.
Single search. “Just the domain submitted”
This setting matches the exact domain name only. If you omit the .TLD ( top level domain) we’ll default it to .com
Suggest other domain endings. “Everything but suggestions”.
Suggests alternate suffixes (tlds) to your request
We check the search term as well as which , alternate tld’s are available for that name E.g. a search for Mydomain.com could also show.
- Mydomain.org
- Mydomain.net
- Maydomain.us and so on
Suggest other domain names All TLD’s and suggestions
Same as above but with additional phrases surrounding your search term. This is the default mode and the number of results you receive varied depended on the popularity of the search term.
E.g. a search for Mydomain.com can result in.
- Mydomain.org
- Mydomain.net
- Maydomain.us as well as.
- Newmydomain.org
- Mydomainnow.com
Don’t have OSX 10.4?
You’re in luck. We have other ways to put a domain search on your system.
You can take advantage of the Google Subscribed links and the Google IG gadget for any system you are logged into Google IG.
I don’t have an Apple!
That’s ok we have a similarly appointed sidebar gadget for Vista. You can pick that up here.
I don’t have Vista
Easily solved you can use the aforementioned Google Subscribed links and the Google IG gadget with practically any modern browser.
I don’t have a computer
Now, you are just being silly.
I’ll post more in detail on the other Gadgets but if you have questions, suggestions for a gadget meantime pick a comment

I was thrilled to run across this widget, but the domain search feature does not work. I keep getting the message "Error checking for [domain]." The Today's Offers tab works fine, of course. I'm wondering if GoDaddy still supports this widget?

Greetings,
Thank you for letting us know that the OSX domain search isn't returning valid results. This item is still supported and we'll take a look at restoring this in the near future.
